Tonight, at exactly midnight UTC, the free version of MailChimp for WordPress was downloaded for the millionth time. Woah..
ONE MILLION DOWNLOADS.
I remember writing a post in late 2013 when the plugin reached 100.000 downloads telling how I developed a rough first version of the plugin from a hospital bed in Vietnam. Now, a little over a year later, that number has been multiplied by 10.
While the number of downloads doesn’t really say *that* much (a great deal of it depends on the number of updates, update frequency, etc.) we’re obviously still super stoked to have reached this milestone.
Some numbers on the plugin..
1 million downloads
One million downloads, of which 30.000 in just the last week. Pushing out an update to the WordPress.org repository means that the plugin will be downloaded ~12.000 times that day. That’s just awesome!
2 people on the team
Since a few months ago, the workload has been way too much for a single person to handle. You may have noticed already but about a month ago Ines van Essen joined me to help out. It’s been a huge relief having her on the team!
97 translators helped to translate the plugin. Right now, the plugin is fully translated in over 10 different languages.
11.464 lines of code
Not counting language files, the plugin consists of ~11.500 lines of code.
310 ★★★★★ reviews
The plugin received 310 five-star reviews at the time of writing. A huge thank you for everyone taking the time to show their appreciation!
Thank you for being part of this amazing journey – let’s get cracking on the road to 2 million downloads!
Update, February 14:: MailChimp for WordPress is now one of the top 20 most popular WordPress plugins of all-time.
